chocolate shavings or semi-sweet chocolate morselsto garnish (optional)
Instructions
Beat cold heavy whipping cream in a deep mixing bowl until soft peaks form. This will take about 2-3 minutes.
In a bowl, whisk mascarpone cheese and sugar together till it is well blended.
Add coffee granules to warm water and mix well.
Dip the ladyfingers in the coffee and lay them in a single layer in a glass bowl till the bottom is completely covered. (Note: Dip one ladyfinger at a time - do not soak them.)
Spread mascarpone cheese mixture over the ladyfingers gently using a spatula till the ladyfingers are evenly covered. Follow it with a layer of coffee-dipped ladyfingers.
Spread a spoonful of cool whip or whipped cream over the ladyfingers gently and evenly using a spatula.
Sprinkle cocoa powder over the cake evenly and garnish with shaved chocolate or chocolate morsels.
Repeat the process for the remaining 3 bowls.
Refrigerate the Tiramisu for 4-6 hours, until set.
Notes
What can you use instead of ladyfingers?
While this recipe does not use raw eggs, the ladyfinger cookies do have eggs in them. So if you don't eat eggs at all, here are some options for you -
Substitute ladyfingers with either graham crackers or Marie biscuits. Since they are thinner than ladyfinger cookies, you'll have to stack three of them to replace one layer of ladyfinger cookies.
Note: You can substitute homemade whipped cream with cool whip if you are short on time.
