    Making roasted nuts at home is easier than you think and barely takes a few minutes! Learn how to air-fry this oil-free, one-ingredient healthy snack at home today.

    What is your favorite afternoon snack? While smoothies makes for a satisfying 3.00 PM option but if you are craving for something crunchy go for these roasted nuts instead of chips. They are not only delicious but also good for you! 

    Why nuts are good for you 

    Nuts are a good source of protein, fat and fiber and loaded with nutrients and antioxidants. They provide protection against heart disease and diabetes. It also keeps you satiated for a long time preventing mindless snacking. So the next time hunger strikes, reach out for nuts instead of chips. Make sure to keep your intake to 1 ounce (~ 30g) which is about 20 almonds or 15 cashews or about 30 pistachio kernels or 9 walnut kernels as per this article on nuts and its impact on health. 

    Why you should roast nuts at home

    Getting store-bought roasted nuts may seem convenient but they come at a cost to our health and budget. Many store bought toasted nuts contain additives that are not healthy for you. Here’s why you should roast nuts at home – 

    • Cheaper than store-bought
    • No added oils! 
    • Preservative free.
    • Easy to make. 
    • They also make a nice gift!

    Roasting nuts at home is not as cumbersome as you may think it is – all it needs is 10 minutes. Let’s get you started! 

    What is the best way to roast nuts?

    Though oven is commonly used to roast nuts I prefer using an air fryer because of the following reasons – 

    1. No preheating required.
    2. Cooks faster.
    3. Easy to toss the nuts halfway during the cooking process.

    How to roast nuts in an air fryer

    Here’s how we roast nuts in an air fryer – 

    1. Set the temperature to 325°F.
    2. Depending on the nuts used, the timings will change
      • Almonds – 6 minutes
      • Peanuts – 10 minutes
      • Hazelnuts – 6 minutes
      • Cashew nuts – 8 minutes

    3. Make sure to toss the nuts at the half-way mark for even browning. 
    4. Let the nuts completely cool before storing in a glass container.

    • 1 cup nuts almonds, cashews, hazelnuts, peanuts etc.

    • Set the temperature to 325°F.
    • Depending on the nuts used, the timings will change (Almonds - 6 minutes, Peanuts, 10 minutes, Hazelnuts - 6 minutes, and cashew nuts - 8 minutes)
    • Make sure to toss the nuts at the half-way mark for even browning.
    • Let the nuts completely cool before storing in a glass container away from direct sunlight.

        Sure you could do that too! Just coat it with a bit of oil so that the spices stick to the nuts.

          No, I don’t. I don’t use oil at all. They release their natural oils.
