Health benefits

Strawberries are packed with antioxidants, fiber, and vitamin C, which can boost your immune system and keep your digestive system healthy.

About this recipe

I prefer to use fresh strawberries but do use frozen bananas from time to time. Here’s the thing about fresh strawberries – they can go bad in the refrigerator rather quickly. So there are a couple of things that you can do –

  • Use strawberries within a day or two of getting them from the grocery store,
  • Learn how to store strawberries so that they stay fresh for a week (details below).

How to store strawberries

This is the process I follow, and that keeps the strawberries fresh in the refrigerator for about a week-

  1. Soak the strawberries in a water-vinegar solution for 5 minutes. Note – The amount of solution will depend on the number of strawberries you have. To make this solution, follow this ratio – For every 2 cups of water, use 1/4 cup white vinegar.
  2. Rinse the strawberries in cold water to wash off the vinegar.
  3. Use a paper towel to wipe the strawberries dry
  4. Line the container that the strawberries came in with paper towels and place the strawberries back in.
  5. Refrigerate.
